L'art d'être grand-père
It was by chance that I discovered, within the immense and fascinating work of Victor Hugo, these tender poems, at times deeply moving, written for his grandchildren. They captivated me from the very first reading.
In 1985, I set four of these poems to music, Jeanne et Georges - Jeanne parle - L’autre - Promenade, and dedicated them to my wife, “for Grandma’s birthday and the little family.” The centenary of the poet’s death, which was commemorated that same year, also lent a certain contemporary relevance to my songs. — Ferenc Farkas
