Capriccio all’ungherese

In 1934 Ferenc Farkas collected folk music at Szabás in county Somogy, and while still there sketched his orchestral composition “Capriccio all’ungherese”. He arranged nine melodies into five short movements, following the classical forms of variation, rondo and sonata form without development.

After several revisions the premiere took place in Budapest in 1939. — László Gombos
