As the winner of the Herder Prize in 1979, I had the privilege of spending a beautiful summer on the Lüneburger Heide, as Mr. Alfred Toepfer’s guest. I selected some poems about the Lüneburg plains from his library. Naturally, I dedicated these 'Sketches of the Plains' to my
host.

Az 1979-es Herder-dìj kitüntetettjeként egy szép nyarat tölthettem a Lüneburger Heidén Alfred Toepfer úr vendégeként. Az ȍ könyvtárában található kötetekbȍl válogattam ki a Lüneburgi pusztára vonatkozò verseket. Ezeket a „Pusztai vàzlatokat” - mi sem természetesebb - meghívòmnak ajànlottam.
